Little Beeps

A thoughtful community for Tamagotchi fans

I've been wondering what Tamagotchi is next on the list to come out lately. I'm kind of un-impressed with the looks of the Music Star, from the short time I spent watching Amy raise hers. It doesn't really look like much of a "Tama" to me in the sense that you need to raise points for food and such by playing music or something. I don't know if they've just ran out of ideas or what.. But the Tamagotchi Color seems to be a good sign they are getting out of just adding on a 0.5 for every new version. Maybe they will surprise us.

I'd like to see a Tamagotchi like the Yasashii (that is less expensive of course) that has the designated buttons for each of the icons, that would light up when the Tam needs attention. I think that would be really cool!

I'm not sure what other ideas they could use for a new Tamagotchi.. I wish that they'd put a poll up or questionaire on the Tamagotchi site for people to make suggestions. Bandai doesn't take suggestions kindly, since I used to email them all the time years ago, and my message would always bounce back. But I used to ask really dumb questions like "Why don't you bring back the Original 90s Tamas??" and annoying stuff like that. :P They should be open to ideas for the 2000s Tamagotchi's.

I can understand why they won't take suggestions. Even just reading your emails opens them up to lawsuits later. If they were to take your advice, you could then sue them for stealing your idea without giving you royalties.

Legal stuff aside… there are lots of cute features I'd love to see in future Tamas. Making them more and more sophisticated and more like cell phones or handheld computers would be pretty sweet. Can you imagine a backlit Tama that could connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi or even 3G and then you could mate your Tamas with friends over the Internet? That would be madness! And people could send each other Tam-mail. ^_^ These ideas could already be implemented if they created a really solid Tamagotchi built for the Nintendo DS, which has WiFi access and backlighting and a sophisticated interface.

Great thread, Dennis! It would be nice if Bandai was able to take suggestions, although I assume they atleast conduct some sort of research before they decide on a new project. I think Bandai's target audience is obviously the younger generation, and I think they believe what they are releasing will satisfy that audience.

Elana brings up a really good idea, and it would seem a logical thing for them to do, although 3G would be a killer on the battery. But you could even expand upon that idea and go into things like adding a social component to it. Playing games online, trading, leaderboards, friends list, animated online family tree, or whatever. They could really make tamagotchis much more than they already are; although I do not think they will do any of this, at least not any time soon.
