Yeah, so my brother just got scammed on eBay. Over spring break he sold a laptop and since he's new to eBay I helped him out. We busted our asses fixing the thing and wiping the HD just in case he was the kind of person who knew how to recover information and steal credit card information off it or something. Ironically, in my attempts to prevent getting scammed, I overlooked a shitload of red flags and ended up securing myself as a character in a story this guy will probably share with all his other Nigerian scam-buddies over dinner. Several hours before I realized we had been scammed, the asshole sends my brother an email asking him to send him $100 because he had paid him too much. He faked an email from PayPal but his grammar was so fucking horrible it was kind of obvious it wasn't actually anyone representing PayPal. If I had been paying attention, I would have realized there was never any indication he had sent a payment via PayPal. He had just faked another email indicating he had, and eBay said he had as well. It's too bad this was over spring break or I might have noticed these things.
The guy has since left eBay and it's not looking like my brother is going to get the money he is owed or get the laptop back. I really feel like devising a plan to screw with this guy so bad he'd wish he never fucked with me, but I just don't have the time or energy to do it. If I had realized he was scamming us earlier, I would have spent the money in shipping to send him a package of busted up shit. Maybe if I'm lucky the post office will mess up the delivery and some poor family who busts their asses to earn money will get it.
Sorry if I offended anyone with my language, I've had a bad week and now I'm just really pissed.
